Salvation Army Expresses Gratitude, Seeks Support

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 13, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today The Salvation Army continues its intense, 24-hour disaster relief services in both New York City and at the Pentagon. The Salvation Army has been overwhelmed by the response of the American public and expresses its gratitude for their generosity at this time of crisis.

The Salvation Army is committed to remaining on the scene and ministering to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of families, individuals and emergency responders indefinitely.

Presently, the need for in-kind donations (material goods such as bottled water, food, hygiene items and clothing) are being met locally. Due to logistical and time concerns, The Salvation Army is not soliciting in-kind donations at this time.

To most effectively and efficiently meet needs at the disaster scenes, The Salvation Army is encouraging people who want to help to make a monetary donation.

If you are interested in making a contribution by credit card, you may call 1-800-SAL-ARMY between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
