Dimension Supplies Data Storage for AstraZeneca's Research

BROMMA, Sweden, Jan. 30, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- When the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca decided to consolidate its storage of research data, the job of supplying the new data storage solution went to the IT integrator Dimension. The order value is approximately SEK 10 million.

AstraZeneca, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, is focused on medical and pharmaceutical research. Last year it invested SEK 25 billion in research and development, and the group has around 10,000 employees active in this area.

For AstraZeneca, properly managing its research results is critical. A secure, accessible storage solution is absolutely essential, and since the amount of data collected from its research is constantly increasing, scalability is also a key. With these requirements in mind, AstraZeneca chose a data storage environment based on a SAN (Storage Area Network). The job of implementing the solution was given to Dimension, which has established a strong position in data storage and SAN solutions. The order also includes design, configuration and project management.

"Data storage is one of our priority areas, and we have extensive experience and competence in complex SAN solutions," says Sven Uthorn, Managing Director of Dimension. "It is obviously an honor to supply the data storage solution for significant parts of AstraZeneca's research."
