PurchasePro Reports September e-Source Results; Sees $176 Million Cross Network During Month

PurchasePro Saves Companies $40 Million or 28 Percent in September


LAS VEGAS, Oct. 1, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- PurchasePro (Nasdaq:PPRO) today reported that 198 reverse auctions were held using e-Source, the company's strategic sourcing solution, in the month ended September 30, 2002, compared with 228 auctions held in August.

Low bids in the September auctions totaled $103 million, compared with $218 million in August, with opening, or high bids totaling $143 million, compared with $265 million in the prior month. The market spread or implied savings in September, between total low and high bids was $40 million, or 28 percent, compared with $47 million or 18 percent in August.

PurchasePro also reported today that the number of buying organizations using e-Source in September was 13, compared with 13 in August. The company said September strategic sourcing events attracted 2,396 bids from 720 suppliers, compared with the 3,164 bids posted in August from 767 suppliers. PurchasePro also announced that 36,000 purchase orders, valued at $33 million crossed its commerce network in September, compared with 41,000, valued at $39 million in August.
