NEW YORK, Sept. 25, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Investment Program Association (IPA), a national trade association representing the interests of the participants in non-traded investment programs, has announced that John S. White has joined the organization as Executive Director.

In his new role at the IPA, Mr. White will oversee the day-to-day operations, help facilitate internal committee efforts and ensure the timely communication with its membership. The IPA's members comprise most of the major program sponsors together with their selling organizations, broker/dealers, and professional associates in law, accounting and other services. Non-traded investment programs include energy and equipment leasing partnerships, non-traded real estate investment trusts (REITS) and limited liability companies.

"The position of Executive Director plays a vital role at the IPA and has grown in importance due to the many opportunities we face resulting from the growth and popularity of our industry," said Jack L. Hollander, chairman of IPA's board of trustees. "We are pleased to welcome Mr. White and the caliber of experience, talent, success and professionalism he brings to our organization."

Prior to joining the IPA, Mr. White held several senior executive positions since 2002 with AIG Advisor Group, a unit of AIG's retirement services business. He directed the firm's internal and external communications and supervised the Royal Alliance sales force.

Mr. White was the president and chief executive officer of DCC Securities Corporation, an NASD broker/dealer which he founded in 1990. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York, then joined Merck & Company, Inc. and focused on strategic planning for the firm's international division.

A member of the board of directors of Resource America, Inc. since 1993, a multinational specialty asset management company with more than $12 billion of assets under management, Mr. White also serves on the board of TRM Corporation, a large-scale owner and operator of automated teller machine (ATM) networks.

Mr. White is a certified public accountant and received a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Vermont. He also received a director certification from UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management, and served with distinction as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Founded in 1987, the IPA's strong legislative and regulatory advocacy and collaborative relationship with key industry organizations helps safeguard the business environment for the direct investment industry. For more information, please visit www.ipa-dc.org
