Aramex Selects Descartes' Air Messaging and Cargo 2000 to Simplify Freight Management Operations

SHANGHAI, China, June 8, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Air Cargo China 2010, Shanghai New International Expo Centre -- Descartes Systems Group (TSX:DSG) (Nasdaq:DSGX), a federated global logistics network, announced that Aramex, a global logistics and transportation provider, has selected Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN) and global supply chain execution applications, Messaging and Cargo 2000, to help manage its air freight operations.

Descartes' GLN provides freight forwarders, like Aramex, with messaging services that simplify cargo and freight management operations for import, export and domestic transportation activities. Descartes' GLN helps airlines meet global customs requirements; monitor shipments at a master air waybill level between airports; monitor events and match route map milestones against actual event timing; simplify shipment management and invoicing; consolidate status data of multiple route maps to measure and improve transportation quality; and transmit accurate tracking updates to customers.

In addition, Aramex has selected Descartes' Cargo 2000 solution to help it comply with the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Cargo 2000 initiative that sets the rules for agreed business processes and automation standards within the air cargo industry. Descartes Cargo 2000 supports the IATA initiative as a fully certified member of the IATA-sponsored Cargo 2000 special interest group.

"Descartes is providing messaging services for Aramex through a comprehensive trading connectivity program. Working with Descartes provides Aramex cost effective and reliable ways to ensure seamless electronic channels between our service suppliers and airline partners." said  Safwan Tannir, Chief Freight Officer at Aramex. "We selected Descartes as our preferred supplier because of the broad range of high quality and global services provided by its Global Logistics Network system, its overall reliability and its commitment to customer service."

"Descartes is committed to helping Aramex and its community of trading partners standardize and automate its air cargo process," said Edward Ryan, Executive Vice President, Global Field Operations. "Descartes delivers results for its customers and their trading partners through standardized processes and by reducing operational complexity, while improving productivity and reducing costs."
