SRI Surgical Announces Five-Year Renewal Contract With Rex Healthcare


TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SRI/Surgical Express, Inc. (SRI Surgical) (Nasdaq:STRC), a leading provider of reusable surgical device reprocessing services supporting the healthcare industry, today announced the renewal of its contract with Rex Healthcare of Raleigh, North Carolina. Under the terms of the contract, SRI Surgical will continue to provide supply chain management services, including surgical instrument processing and physician-specific procedural case cart delivery. The SRI Surgical case carts will include all med-surg supplies, including SRI Surgical's reusable surgical linen, used during a surgical procedure as well as high-quality surgical instrumentation. Processing of all surgical instruments will continue to take place in the SRI Mebane, NC facility or the Central Sterile Processing department at Rex Healthcare managed by SRI. The contract will commence on September 1, 2011.

Rex Healthcare, a member of UNC Health Care, is a private, not-for-profit health care system with 5,000 co-workers. Rex Healthcare has 665 beds (433 general acute care and 226 skilled nursing beds) and treats nearly 34,000 inpatients each year. More than 1,100 physicians are on the Rex medical staff. Over 40,000 surgeries and births are performed annually.
