New York Plastic Surgeon Dr. Asaadi Develops New Procedure, CORE Abdominoplasty, That Results in Firmer, Flatter Abdomen

Results indicate that CORE Abdominoplasty, developed and used by New York plastic surgeon Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi, allows for more precise repair of abdominal muscles than traditional abdominoplasty procedures.

New York, NY, Nov. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi, a leading New York plastic surgeon, has developed CORE Abdominoplasty℠, a new technique to tighten stomach muscles that have lost their tone and elasticity. Results indicate that CORE Abdominoplasty℠ allows for more precise repair of the abdominal muscles than traditional abdominoplasty techniques, providing patients with a firmer, flatter abdominal profile.

Dr. Asaadi developed CORE Abdominoplasty℠ because many patients were unhappy with the results they had received from traditional abdominoplasty procedures performed elsewhere. According to Dr. Asaadi, most surgeons perform abdominoplasty while the patient is lying completely flat, making it impossible to completely tighten and repair the abdominal muscles.

Unlike typical abdominoplasty procedures, Dr. Asaadi raises the back of the operating table to a 45° position during the CORE Abdominoplasty℠ procedure.  This allows Dr. Asaadi to perform the "Table Tilt Test" to detect any additional abdominal bulging that is present when the patient is upright. Dr. Asaadi states, "By bringing the back of the table up and examining the muscles in a semi-upright position, I am able to perform additional repair on the abdominal muscles. This gives patients the smooth, firm abdominal profile they are looking for."

By using the "Table Tilt Test," Dr. Asaadi has found that approximately one-third of abdominoplasty patients receive satisfactory results with abdominoplasty performed while the patient is lying flat. The remaining two-thirds require additional muscle repair that can not be achieved through traditional abdominoplasty procedures.

Dr. Asaadi has found excellent results using CORE Abdominoplasty℠ on women whose stomach muscles are weak and stretched after giving birth to large babies or multiples. "These women are otherwise healthy, but have not been able to get back to their pre-pregnancy bodies," said Dr. Asaadi. "CORE Abdominoplasty℠ puts their abdominal muscles back together the way they were before pregnancy," he said.

CORE Abdominoplasty℠ is most often performed on women, but it can also be an effective treatment for men whose excess abdominal fat has led to a separation of the muscle from the abdominal wall. While Dr. Asaadi has found excellent results using CORE Abdominoplasty℠ on both men and women, it is not intended for individuals who are significantly overweight.
