Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC Welcomes New Director of Sales

Camille Garcia Brings 10 Years of Experience to Her New Role

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Dec 28, 2011) - For Camille Garcia, the new director of sales at the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC, among hotels near Rush University Medical Center, business is her business.

Garcia's journey to her new role at the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC, a Chicago hospital hotel, began in 2002, when, fresh out of college, she took a position as sales assistant at Hyatt on Printers Row. In just three years, she took on several roles, including sales representative, catering manager and business travel manager.

In 2005, Garcia took on a larger business-oriented role for the Hiltons of Chicago, representing several properties with Chicago meeting venues, including the Palmer House Hilton, Hilton Chicago, Hilton Chicago O'Hare and CONRAD Chicago. She started in business travel before moving on to small and then medium groups for the financial, association and third-party markets. Garcia quickly made a place for herself in the business market, moving on to become the group sales manager at the Sax Chicago, A Thompson Hotel in 2008, handling the vertical market segment of technology for the Microsoft-branded hotel.

Garcia held one more position before being promoted to her current position at the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC hotel near University of Illinois Chicago hospital, which is owned and operated by Davidson Hotels and Resorts. In 2010, she became senior sales manager with Davidson Hotels and Resorts at their Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown, where she developed their convention market through relationships with the Chicago Convention and Tourism Board and OnPeak Chicago.

About her new role at the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC she says, "Being a director of sales is something I have been working on for 10 years. I couldn't be happier that I am getting this opportunity and am really looking forward to what is to come."
