Indy 500 Starter Darren Manning Autographs "The Stinger" at Window World

HARFORD COUNTY, Md., Feb. 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Darren Manning, a former Indianapolis 500 starter with 25 career top 10 finishes, made an appearance on February 5 at Window World of Harford to autograph The Stinger, a concept Indy show car that travels the country to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®.

The Stinger was unveiled at the 2011 Indianapolis 500 and is a tribute to the first winning Indy 500 car, the 1911 Marmon Wasp. It was developed by John Andretti, Andretti Autosport and Window World, Inc.® So far, the concept car has been autographed by more than 220 of the 273 living former Indy starters invited to sign the vehicle. For each signature received, Window World Cares®, the charitable foundation of Window World, makes a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Ultimately the car will be auctioned and all proceeds will benefit St. Jude.

"As a former Indy 500 Starter, I'm proud to be in the company of the other 220 drivers who signed The Stinger," said Manning. "It's a worthy cause, and I'm glad to help."

"The entire Window World of Harford team is excited to participate in The Stinger mission," said store owner John Goldbeck. "I just think it's great that this car is going to be auctioned to benefit the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and I'm happy to have been a part of it."

Window World Cares was founded in 2008 by Window World Chairman and CEO Tammy Whitworth and her late husband, Todd Whitworth. Since its inception, the foundation has donated more than $2.9 million to St. Jude and was named New Corporate Partner of the Year by the hospital in 2010.
