SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Life Sciences Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to capturing the history, preserving the heritage and sharing the stories of biotechnology, appointed Dr. Magda Marquet to its board of advisors.
Dr. Magda Marquet is co-founder and co-chair of Ajinomoto Althea and co-founder and Director of Althea Dx. In addition, Marquet is co-President and CEO of Alma Life Sciences, a consulting and investment firm and she is on the Board of Directors of Sente and Portable Genomics. She is chair of BIOCOM, co-chair of the advisory board of MD Revolution and a member of the executive committee of the UCSD Moores Cancer Center. She is also a member of the UCSD Biological Sciences Dean Leadership Council. Marquet has thirty years of experience in the biotechnology industry in the United States, Europe and Asia. Prior to starting Althea, she held management positions at Vical Inc., Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Protein Polymer Technologies, Syntro Corporation and Transgene. Marquet was the recipient of the E&Y regional Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2005.
