Chiropractor at Empowered Chiropractic Returns From Tibet Mission Trip

DANVILLE, Calif., Aug. 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Danville chiropractor Dr. Mahsa Khodabakhsh returned from a medical mission trip to Tibet in December 2014 and January 2015. Dr. Khodabakhsh volunteered with several community groups to provide chiropractic treatment, help care for children, make donations and feed those in need. During her trip, Dr. Khodabakhsh volunteered in a Tibetan orphanage working with refugees, children with disabilities and abandoned children; an old age home caring for geriatric patients; and an all-women Tibetan monastery where she provided volunteer care for children as young as four years. Dr. Khodabakhsh says the medical mission trip was an important opportunity to bring the life-changing gift of chiropractic care to communities that would otherwise not have access to these treatment options.

Empowered Chiropractic, a pain management and wellness center in Danville, California, is working to make a difference for patients both at home and overseas. Dr. Khodabakhsh, the practice's chiropractor, spent several weeks volunteering her services in Tibet to help children, adults and seniors. In addition to making donations, Dr. Khodabakhsh provided hands-on chiropractic adjustments.

"I had an incredible experience volunteering in Tibet," said Dr. Khodabakhsh. "I volunteered at an orphanage, an all-women monastery and a home for seniors during my time in Tibet. These community organizations are located along the Northern Indian and Tibetan border. Connecting with the Tibetan people was a powerful reminder that no matter where we are in the world, chiropractic care can make a huge difference for pain relief and quality of life enhancement."

Dr. Khodabakhsh is passionate about the benefits of chiropractic care, having personally benefited from treatment since 2004.

"I first visited a chiropractor more than a decade ago because unresolved physical traumas, sports injuries and medical issues were making my day-to-day life nearly unbearable," said Dr. Khodabakhsh. "Chiropractic care was truly transformative, enhancing all aspects of my quality of life. I choose to become a chiropractor in order to bring this same life-changing care to others. I am honored to work closely with so many wonderful patients each day as I help them in their journey to better health."

Dr. Khodabakhsh says she specialized in full-spine and extremity-related injuries, exercise and sports rehabilitation, pediatrics and geriatrics care.

"Chiropractic care is beneficial for patients of all ages," said Dr. Khodabakhsh. "I see first-hand every day the profound difference it makes for my patients, and I'm committed to helping as many people as I can. The mission trip to Tibet was an incredible opportunity to make a difference for underserved communities that would otherwise never receive access to this level of care we take for granted here in the United States."

Empowered Chiropractic is a pain relief and wellness center providing drug-free, non-invasive pain management and injury rehabilitation for sports injuries, auto accidents, workplace injuries and personal injuries.
