Help Yourself: Help Michaux Family Chiropractic Help the Hungry

CLERMONT, Fla., Dec. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Michaux Family Chiropractic hopes to extend the joy of this season by sharing with the homeless. The chiropractic clinic recently announced plans to provide a free consultation, examination, medically necessary X-rays and a report of findings free of charge to new patients who donate $35 in toys, cash, or food.

Dr. Kurt Michaux D.C. and Dr. Lance Stromberg D.C. note that the special Holiday offer represents up to a $480 value, and is "a way to share the benefits of health and wellness." Toys, cash and non-perishable food brought to the clinic prior to December 23 will be donated to New Beginnings of Central Florida. The organization, founded in 2007, is a non-profit, faith-based initiative that provides a menu of varied services in local communities as a way to help the homeless.

The organization was chosen as the recipient of the Holiday Food and Toy Drive because the chiropractic team supports their four-step approach to helping men, women and children take charge of their own lives. Through a multi-phase program, New Beginnings offers a "hand up, not a hand out." In 2014, they served more than 27,000 individuals and distributed over 122,000 pounds of food.

Michaux Family Chiropractic, in the same way, offers local residents a way to "take charge" of their own health, leading to continuing wellness. Chiropractic treatment focuses on alleviating pain through drug-free, non-invasive methods. Back, neck and shoulder pain caused by injury or accidental trauma, headaches and migraines, chronic aches and pains, or the acute pain of sciatica and other conditions are often relieved dramatically by chiropractic treatment. Spinal adjustment, massage therapy, physical therapy, nutritional guidance, weight management and exercise consultation might all be a part of a chiropractic regimen.

The clinic also employs mechanical traction, moist heat therapy and cryotherapy, as warranted, for ongoing relief and pain management. The chiropractic staff is trained to administer comprehensive screenings that detect spinal abnormalities, including scoliosis, and specializes in targeted treatment and lifestyle advice during pregnancy to address posture and balance as well as specific bodily changes.

All chiropractic treatment involves a "partnership" between professionals and patients, according to Dr. Michaux, who has a long personal history of severe health problems during his own childhood. His experiences with surgery, pain management and traditional medicine led to his choice of career, he notes, and fostered his dedication to helping others in a comprehensive way. Explaining that "lifestyle coaching" is an important aspect of Michaux Family Chiropractic, the doctor says that he personally relates to the efforts of New Beginnings. "We are pleased to be a part of their continuing work in our community," he adds.
