San Diego, May 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Borrego Solar Systems Inc., a leading developer, designer, installer, and operator of commercial solar and energy storage systems, today announced a 50 percent increase in completed commercial solar installations in California in 2017 compared to 2016. The growth in installed capacity has moved the company up to the sixth largest commercial solar firm in California in terms of megawatt (MW) installed, according to Greentech Media Research Leaderboard data.

In 2017, the company completed multiple noteworthy projects in California:
- Largest airport solar project – a 7.9 MW tracker ground-mount installation for Sacramento International Airport that will provide enough energy to meet 30 percent of its energy demand.
- Largest community college solar project – a 5.5 MW solar carport system for Chaffey Community College District that will provide enough energy to meet 90 percent of its energy demand.
- Completed largest Property Assessed Clean Energy-funded project (at the time of contract signing) – a 5 MW tracker system
- Signed company’s first energy storage contract for a California customer
