UPDATE -- Tulip Conference Wraps as EOS West Announces Block Producer Candidacy

EOS West is the most significant Block Producer Candidacy Announcement following the EOS MainNet Launch last week

SAN FRANCISCO, July 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tulip 2018, the next-generation Blockchain conference, wrapped last week with the first-ever North American EOS Workshop. The 2-day conference occurred simultaneously with the launch of the EOS MainNet, after which EOS West officially announced its block producer candidacy, making it the most significant Block Producer candidate following EOS MainNet activation.

Tulip Conference’s hallmarks have been twofold: it set the standard for premier content and a world-class array of keynotes for future blockchain technology events, as well as the most significant series of EOS events to date, with a 3-day EOS workshop taking place just before the big EOS MainNet activation. Tulip also featured the initial 21 block producers, while 50 standby nodes were decided by the minimum 15% required to activate.

On EOS, Block Producers essentially replace the concept of “miners,” and instead act as custodians of the network by running the underlying network layer to process all transactions. Block Producers constantly compete to align best with voter and community interests, and as such many lead community-focused initiatives to foster user education and building dApps that strengthen EOS. Each Block Producer represents different regions of the world, with EOS West comprising the West Coast of the United States from California to Colorado, including Silicon Valley - the technology hub of the planet.

“Members of the EOS West team have been actively involved with the EOS community since its inception, and have given careful consideration on whether to also become block producers,” said Keith Koo, CFO of Tulip Industries. “Ultimately with the success of first global EOS Block Producer Summit at Tulip Conference, the EOS West members have realized they have so much more to contribute to the EOS community by way of infrastructure, architecture, governance, worker proposals, and EOS based projects.”

Coinciding with its Block Producer candidacy, EOS West is demonstrating its commitment to leading in architecture, infrastructure, and security by announcing a strategic partnership with ZEDEDA, an enterprise software startup building an industry-leading and innovative cloud-native edge computing platform for the deployment, management, and security of real-time edge applications at hyperscale, targeting solutions for the industrial and commercial Internet of Things.

“Blockchain is a game changing application for edge computing and EOS, with its explicit mission of enabling scheduling of applications across many distributed CPU cores, comes closest to fully realizing its full potential,” ZEDEDA VP of Product & Strategy, Roman Shaposhnik commented. “We are excited to work with EOS block producer communities like EOS West to secure and protect this fundamental blockchain edge compute infrastructure and make deployment a simple, one-click process by applying the same technology we are already using today for running the most sensitive industrial edge assets for some of the largest companies in the world”

The 2018 Tulip Conference was organized by Token Garage, a San Francisco-based Blockchain Technology Service Provider, and the Open Protocol Alliance. The next Tulip Conference will take place in Shanghai, China, in the winter of 2018.
