At the age of 65, father and husband Bernie Krewski unexpectedly found he needed such care. “A small lump appeared on my neck, and shortly after, following medical tests, I was diagnosed with throat cancer. Before the diagnosis, I had felt healthy and happy and had never smoked a day in my life,” explains Krewski. “My larynx was removed, as well as the lower half of my tongue. I also received radiation therapy to treat the cancer, but it destroyed my teeth.”
Krewski continues, saying “I would require jaw reconstruction surgery from the Misericordia Hospital. The Misericordia’s medical care, as well as the therapeutic and compassionate atmosphere, was vital to my ongoing recovery.
