The Association for Women Lawyers Honors Attorney Terese Halfmann with Mentoring Award

Milwaukee, Oct. 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On September 25, 2018, the Association for Women Lawyers held its Annual Meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Attorney Terese Halfmann, associate at Hupy and Abraham, was among several women that were recognized at the luncheon.

Each year, the Association for Women Lawyers gathers to reflect on the goals and successes of the past year, along with looking forward to the future. Part of the day’s program was to administer four $2500 scholarships to women that have met the criteria of serving others, academic achievement and unique life experiences. All four of the scholarship recipients went above and beyond their peers, in order to have their higher standards acknowledged.

In addition to the scholarship presentation, four tenured women in the legal profession were given awards due to their stanch support in the mission of AWL: to promote the welfare, interests and professional development of women lawyers. Attorney Terese Halfmann, received the Mentor’s Award after a long and consistent career of guiding other women to achieve their fullest potential. In her acceptance speech, Attorney Halfmann spoke about why she believes that each attorney should automatically have the inclination to guide those that will succeed them. She also spoke of the importance of mentors in this field, as she did not have one at the beginning of her own legal career.

Tracing origins to the early 1970s, the Association for Women Lawyers strives to ensure that women attorneys are able to have their own seat at the table and can have fewer barriers to break while navigating the field.

Attorney Halfmann joined Hupy and Abraham in 2015 and was named a “Woman in the Law” by the Wisconsin Law Journal in 2017. The law firm of Hupy and Abraham, S.C. congratulates Attorney Halfmann for receiving this great distinction, and thanks the AWL for selecting her for this honor.
