Get virtually board with snowboarding game and the Nokia 9210 Communicator

Nokia's sponsorship of snowboarding has been elevated to a new level with the introduction of a snowboarding game, specially optimised for the new Nokia 9210 Communicator's full colour screen and EPOC operating platform. The Virtually Board Snowboarding game was launched at the 2000–2001 Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup finals in Ruka, Finland and will be available during the first half of 2001 through Club Nokia.

"As the publisher of the Virtually Board Snowboarding game, Nokia shows its strong belief in high quality mobile games and the performance abilities of our products. With 32-bit processing and a variety of snowboarding game features such as multiple game modes including trick race, half pipe and big air, the Virtually Board Snowboarding game offers players an action-packed video game experience on a mobile phone," said Graham Thomas, General Manager of Games, Nokia Mobile Phones.

The Virtually Board Snowboarding game can be played alone or by two people simultaneously. The player can choose from four game characters and five powerful snowboards, each with subtle differences that affect performance. Selecting the most appropriate course and gameplay mode for the character, impacts the overall result of the gametrack chosen. Jump performance depends on speed and jump power. The player must finish the track with the most tricks and at the highest speed to get the highest scores. Time- and trick bonuses are calculated into the total score.

The Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup finals are currently taking place in Ruka, Finland. This is the third year of Nokia's sponsorship of the Snowboard FIS World Cup. Nokia's three-year sponsorship agreement has also been extended to include a fourth season during the 2001/2002 Winter Olympics.
