LOS ANGELES, May 2, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited (Dragonair) has selected its Litton Aero Products LTN-92 INS along with the CMC Electronics Inc. CMA-900 FMS and new distance measuring equipment for installation in its fleet of B747-300 aircraft.
The initial installation effort for two aircraft has already begun and the first aircraft will be completed in August 2001. CMC Electronics Inc., formerly known as BAE SYSTEMS CANADA INC. and located in Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec, is the cockpit avionics systems integrator for the project.
The Litton LTN-92 system is an ARINC 561 strapdown INS with full ARINC 704 digital interface capability. The LTN-92 uses state-of-the-art ring laser gyroscopes and is the ideal choice for replacement of earlier, low reliability "spinning wheel" inertial systems. The LTN-92 features an optional on-board worldwide navigational database, GNSS interface capability and a 1553B data bus. More than 2,500 LTN-92's have been delivered.
