CHICAGO, June 29, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Just in time for Fourth of July parties and fireworks shows, a new ice cream that raises money for children's playgrounds is available as the perfect patriotic dessert that also invites scoopers to speak out about where safe playgrounds are needed.
KaBerry KaBOOM!(r), a flavor produced by Ben & Jerry's(r) Homemade, Inc., supports the work of KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that builds playgrounds in communities that need them most, with the help of volunteer builders and public and private support. Since 1995, about 40,000 volunteers have joined KaBOOM! in building nearly 275 playgrounds in 31 states and Canada, including three playgrounds with Ben & Jerry's and its franchisees.
A portion of the sale of each KaBerry KaBOOM! pint will raise money for community-build playground projects led by KaBOOM!. The goal is to build at least three playgrounds in 2001 with ice-cream proceeds, and more as funds are available. A community-built playground with KaBOOM! can cost about $50,000.
