CARESIDE Promotes David R. Crais to Vice President of Sales


CULVER CITY, Calif., Sept. 27, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- CARESIDE, Inc. (AMEX:CSA), a provider of point-of-care blood analysis instrumentation and records management, announced today that it has promoted veteran sales executive David R. Crais, 37, to Vice President of Sales, effective immediately. In this role, Crais will be responsible for directing both domestic and international sales activities, formulating sales strategies, coordinating sales programs and overseeing Careside's sales team.

Crais joined Careside in 1999 as a Regional Sales Manager based in Chicago where he was responsible for sales in the Midwest. Subsequently, he was promoted to National Sales Director. Prior to joining Careside, Crais spent seven years as Strategic Sales Representative for Princeton, NJ-based I-STAT Corporation (Nasdaq:STAT), a maker of hand held point-of-care testing technology. During his tenure at I-STAT, Crais was the top sales representative for hospital contract sales in 1998.

Crais also has experience in international sales as he started an import/export brokerage and market consulting company, which he left in 1993. Crais has been a gubernatorial appointee for the State of Louisiana Imports and Exports Trust Authority, Gulf States Campaign Manager for Senator Paul Tsongas' Presidential race in 1992, and a Board Member of the Visiting Nurse Association in New Orleans.

He has a combined BA/BS degree from Loyola University, New Orleans, LA, and has done graduate studies at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
