TietoEnator and BP Signs Global Energy Components Agreement

ESPOO, Finland, Jan. 10, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- TietoEnator has signed a Master License Agreement (MLA) with BP. Following this agreement TietoEnator's spearhead product Energy Components is being implemented to support BP's world-wide Upstream operations. The contract supports TietoEnator's strategy of promoting IT solutions in the global market.

The new BP was formed following the merger between BP and Amoco in 1998, followed by the integration of Arco, Burmah Castrol and Vastar in 2000.

- More than ever, the need for global standard IT solutions within all parts of our business became evident. We were impressed by the capability and flexibility of the Energy Components product, and by the professional approach to project and product management by TietoEnator, as we see the product being used in our global organization to support our business objectives, says Alex McPherson, Upstream Portfolio Leader within BP's global Upstream Digital Business.

Energy Components will be deployed in BP's new Upstream operations and will replace existing production applications when there is a business need to change their application.

Energy Components is a complete set of software building blocks, which are combined to form modern and flexible systems for data acquisition, production reporting, allocation, and hydrocarbon accounting. The system initially developed for Norwegian offshore operations, tracks and accounts for hydrocarbons from reservoir to sales. As operations become more and more automated and advanced, Energy Components forms an increasingly important part of the complete IT system portfolio required to operate the fields in a controlled and efficient manner.

- Being a Fortune top 10 global company we are proud that BP has selected TietoEnator as their IT solution provider on a world-wide scale. This agreement verifies Energy Components as the preferred global solution for production reporting and hydrocarbon accounting, says Henning Stokke, Manager Energy Components in TietoEnator Oil & Gas.

- This contract is verifying the strengths of TietoEnator's spearhead product strategy. Through strong customer relationships, we learn to know our customer's business. This is the very essence of the success TietoEnator has in the energy sector, Trond Arve Pettersen, Vice President TietoEnator, Oil & Gas, adds.

In year 2000 a new Oil & Gas office was opened in London, and in 2001 two more offices were opened, in Aberdeen and in Houston.
