Teleca's Acquires Erda, with 30 Employees -- Strengthens Leading Position in Life Science

MALMO, Sweden, May 6, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca has acquired IT consulting company Erda Technology, which has cutting-edge skills within embedded systems and communications solutions. As a result of the acquisition, Teleca strengthens its leading position in Life Science, one of the company's prioritised business areas.

Erda, which was formerly part of Bure Equity, will be incorporated with the operations of Teleca's subsidiaries in Uppsala and Linkoping.

"These are attractive regions, with extensive high-tech industries. Furthermore, Teleca has a Life Science development center in Uppsala, a region characterised by strong and dynamic medical and biotechnology research activities. This acquisition means that we further strengthen our position in the field, and that we can supply a more comprehensive range of services," said Thomas Pantzar, Executive Vice President at Teleca.

Teleca provides advanced services within three segments of the Life Science field: medical equipment, biotechnology products and the pharmaceuticals industry.

In Linkoping, Teleca is one of the leading suppliers of services within technical systems development and is also highly skilled within control technology-based electronics and software development. The acquisition of Erda means that the company's skills on the software side are strengthened even further.

Due to the size of the acquisition the effects on Teleca's results are marginal.
