Telia Sells IP and Voice Capacity to Albacom

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 14, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telia International Carrier (Telia IC) has had an important breakthrough on the Italian market and now sells interational IP and Voice capacity to Albacom, Italy's second largest business telecom operator that has British Telecom among their shareholders.

"We are pleased since this is an important step in our business relation with one of Europe's most interesting telecommunication companies," said Erik Heilborn, President of Telia International Carrier. "This is also a major breakthrough for Telia in Italy since we won the deal over big competitors."

With Telia ICs IP Transit Service, Albacom can now offer their customers high quality guaranteed 155Mbps Internet connectivity.

"Telia contributes to providing our customers with the best quality possible for both IP and International Voice services," said Marco Marchioni, Wholesale Commercial Director of Albacom.

Although Telia IC is a relatively new player in South Europe, Telia's long and stable history gives the company a great advantage on the Italian market.

"We chose Telia since it is comforting to know that we have a reliable supplier," said Marchione."Our excellent business relationship provides a good basis for a long-term relationship between our companies."
