Hotsip and i3 micro Sign Partnership Agreement

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 16, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) --

Agreement Paves the Way for the Introduction of SIP and Presence
Based Services Into Analogue Phones and TVs With the Use of
i3 micro's Voice Gateway and Set-Top Box Products

Hotsip AB (www.hotsip.com), the global leader in the development and delivery of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and Presence based products for fixed and mobile networks, and i3 micro technology (www.i3micro.com), the Swedish datacom company that develops and markets products for IP-TV, video streaming and VoIP, announced today that they have signed an agreement to create a system solution by co-packaging both companies' products for resale to systems integrators and both broadband and cable service providers.

"Hotsip's SIP and Presence based Instant Messaging, VoIP, Video and Gaming services add significant value to our Vood residential gateways and Mood set-top box products," said Hans Holmberg, President, i3 micro technology. "The complete Hotsip-i3 micro solution really adds value to the broadband operator's service offering by filling the broadband network with exciting revenue generating services based on open technology."

The joint business partnership will take effect immediately and satisfies the current demands of both partners' customers in terms of hardware and end-to-end software solution requirements. The joint solution targets the convergence between telephony, media and Internet over broadband and offers the end-user different terminal options, some examples include:

-- Calls to the PSTN from subscriber's existing analogue phone, using
    the Vood voice gateway products.

-- Real-time communication, like instant messaging/chat, video calls
and on-line gaming through the TV, using the Mood Box.

-- Sending and receiving MMS traffic between wireless handsets and a
    TV, using the Mood Box.

These and many more revenue generating services can be deployed by using the Hotsip-i3 micro solution today.

"The Hotsip-i3 micro solution will offer broadband operators clear competitive advantages over competing communication technologies by delivering compelling voice/data services across a flexible, highly scalable platform," said Kenneth Gustafsson, CEO, Hotsip. "This collaboration enables broadband operators and their subscribers to realize the benefits of SIP based communication, creating new profit potential to broadband operators and higher value communications services to end-users."

As part of the partnership collaboration, the companies intend to engage in joint sales opportunities. Currently Hotsip and i3 micro are in discussions with several systems integrators and broadband operators in Scandinavia and Asia.
