America's Top Storm Chasers to Deliver the Adventure of a Lifetime

ARLINGTON, Texas, March 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Texas-based Tempest Tours, Inc. will provide its guests with the adventure of a lifetime when the group conducts operations this spring. The company, headed by three veteran storm chasers, will lead eight expeditions into Tornado Alley in search of nature's most spectacular weather. More tornadoes occur in Tornado Alley, a region that stretches from Texas to the Dakotas, than anywhere else on earth.

"Our goal is to introduce the science of storms to our guests," said Tempest Tours founder and president, Martin Lisius. "We provide an in-depth look at the dynamics responsible for the development of tornadoes. Guests leave with a better understanding of how our atmosphere works and a greater respect for severe weather."

The Tempest Tours senior team is comprised of Lisius, William T. Reid, and Dr. Charles Doswell, III. Together, they have accumulated more than 60 years of storm chasing experience. Lisius is best known for his high quality motion picture footage of storms. Reid is a climatologist and published storm photographer, and Dr. Doswell is a former researcher for the National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, Oklahoma and is regarded as one of the top tornado scientists in the world.

In the past three seasons, Tempest Tours, arguably the most successful storm chasing team in the country, has forecasted and intercepted 60 tornadoes. "Even though we can't guarantee a tornado, we can promise our guests the opportunity to live the life of a real storm chaser for a few days," Lisius said. "That in itself is an adventure of a lifetime for many of them."

Tempest Tours will operate eight tours from May through early July, the peak of tornado activity in the U.S. Tours will depart from Dallas-Ft. Worth and Oklahoma City. Fees range from $1,900.00 to $2,800.00 per person for six, eight and ten days of storm chasing. Information, including tour schedule, can be accessed on-line at www.tempesttours.com.
