Investor Notice: The Rosen Law Firm Provides Update on the Consolidated Class Action Pending Against Northfield -- NFLD

NEW YORK, July 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Rosen Law Firm announces that the U.S. District Court has set a deadline of August 16, 2006 for investors to file applications to serve as lead plaintiff in the consolidated class action against Northfield Laboratories, Inc. (the "Company" or "Northfield") (Nasdaq:NFLD) and certain of its officers and directors pending in the Northern District of Illinois.

Investors who purchased common stock and/or options of Northfield during the period between December 22, 2003 through February 21, 2006, inclusive (the "Class Period") have until August 16, 2006 to seek appointment as Lead Plaintiff in the consolidated class action pending against the Company.

Investors interested in serving as lead plaintiff in the class action may visit the website at http://www.rosenlegal.com or call Laurence Rosen, Esq. or Phillip Kim, Esq. toll-free at 866-767-3653 or email lrosen@rosenlegal.com or pkim@rosenlegal.com for further information.

The complaint charges Northfield and certain of its officers and directors with violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by virtue of the Company's issuance of a series of materially false and misleading statements concerning the safety and clinical history of the Company's blood substitute PolyHeme during the Class Period. In particular, the complaint alleges that the Company failed to disclose that a significant portion of patients taking PolyHeme in a clinical study suffered heart attacks and two patients died, within seven days of taking PolyHeme -- as compared to zero heart attacks from patients receiving real blood in the same study.

A class action lawsuit has already been filed on behalf of Northfield shareholders. If you wish to serve as lead plaintiff, you must move the Court no later than August 16, 2006. If you wish to join the litigation or to discuss your rights or interests regarding this class action, please contact plaintiff's counsel, Laurence Rosen, Esq. or Phillip Kim, Esq. of The Rosen Law Firm toll free at 866-767-3653 or via e-mail at lrosen@rosenlegal.com or pkim@rosenlegal.com.
