American Military University Signs Cooperative Degree Agreement With FBI National Academy Associates

Law Enforcement Professionals, Others Can Earn Graduate Credit Toward Related American Military University Degrees

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va., Jan. 18, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- American Military University (AMU) -- a distance learning institution based here -- has signed a cooperative degree program agreement with the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA).

Law enforcement professionals and others who have completed FBINAA's executive leadership management program can now receive up to 15 graduate credit hours toward certain master's degree programs at AMU (www.amu.apus.edu/fbinaa). These programs include criminal justice, homeland security and management. Other related graduate programs may be eligible as well.

AMU (www.amuonline.com) is a member of the American Public University System, a regionally and nationally accredited distance learning institution serving more than 20,000 civilian and military students worldwide. AMU has one of the nation's largest homeland security programs. FBINAA is a non-profit international organization that provides advanced law enforcement training.

"Our programs complement the knowledge these law enforcement professionals already have -- and provide the leadership and management skills they need to continue to lead the nation's law enforcement community," says Wallace E. Boston Jr., University System president and chief executive officer.

"We wanted to provide our graduates -- who are studying around the world -- another way to advance in their careers," says Tom Colombell, FBINAA's executive director. "AMU's online programs offer flexibility and the right mix of law enforcement critical thinking and practical application."

AMU faculty members combine relevant theory with real-world experience. Many faculty members hold key positions in national and regional law enforcement organizations -- and have held leadership positions at the United Nations, the State Department, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and more.
