HOUSTON, Feb. 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- CyrusOne, a leader in high availability and dense computing enterprise data centers, today announced that it is expanding its flagship Houston data center by an additional contiguous 60,000 square feet, making it the highest density data center in Texas. The expansion will nearly double the size of the existing facility, creating a larger, hosted campus environment. This new campus will offer approximately 125,000 square feet of hosted data storage, and is engineered to accommodate dense computing systems at over 250 watts per square foot. The new facility will be ready for customer installations by the summer of 2007.

CyrusOne chose to expand and build-out its existing data center to meet the growing demand for dense computing systems that provide increased performance and greater network uptime. This trend will only escalate in coming years; in fact, computer hardware manufacturers plan to ship 3 million blade servers in 2007, a 20 percent increase from 2006. Companies are moving to blades due to the low upfront ownership, advanced capacity in storage and flexibility of adding components. The cornerstone of dense computing architectures, blade servers rely on much greater power and cooling requirements than previous server generations and platforms.
The opening of the technology campus comes on the tail of a banner year in growth. CyrusOne posted 60 percent growth in 2006 revenue from year to date versus 2005 with dramatic increase in EBITDA. This significant increase was spurred by a boost in new customers, augmenting the company's 99 percent renewal rate for existing contracts and expansions.
