Universal Detection Technology Invited to Present Its Technology to the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB:UDTT), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, announced today that it has been invited to present the technology utilized in its BSM-2000 Anthrax Detection System to the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC).

ECBC is the nation's principal research and development center for non-medical chemical and biological defense. ECBC develops technology in the areas of detection, protection, and decontamination and provides support over the entire lifecycle, from basic research through technology development, engineering design, equipment evaluation, product support, sustainment, field operations and disposal. ECBC traces its background in homeland security to the national Domestic Preparedness Program, a Department of Defense initiative aimed at enhancing federal, state and local emergency response capabilities during incidents involving nuclear, biological and chemical terrorism.

"We are very excited to present our technology to the ECBC Critical Reagents Program," said Mr. Jacques Tizabi UDTT's Chief Executive Officer. "We hope that through the analysis of our technology the ECBC recognizes the advantages in cost and detection that our BSM-2000 technology offers compared to other detection systems currently deployed," he added.

UDTT is a supplier of counter terrorism services and technologies to private and government organizations. The Company owns the license to a patented technology developed at NASA's JPL and utilized in UDTT's BSM-2000 used for autonomous monitoring of the air for presence of airborne bacterial spores such as anthrax.
