TASER Device Used to Subdue Knife-Wielding Shoplifter in New Milford, CT

According to reports from The News-Times out of Danbury, CT, police were called to a New Milford Big Y on March 26, 2008, where they encountered a 40-year-old shoplifting suspect using a short-bladed, razor-sharp knife during a scuffle with security officers.

The suspect refused to give up the knife. The officers deployed a TASER(r) electronic control device to successfully gain control of the suspect. Once in custody, the man was taken to New Milford Hospital and then taken to the police station where he was later charged with sixth-degree larceny charge for shoplifting, second-degree threatening, second-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with a police officer and breach of peace.
