(Graz, 28.03.2008) The Austrian company BDI – BioDiesel International AG
presented the annual report for fiscal 2007 on Friday, 28.3.2008. The
updated forecast for the past fiscal year was exceeded slightly with
revenues of EUR 77.1 million and an EBIT margin of 6.1%.

Revenues in 2007 amounted to EUR 77.10 million (IAS figures / 2006: EUR
87.81 million). This was an improvement on the forecast made on 30.6. and
30.9. As expected, there was an overall difference from the previous year
due to a lower percentage of completion because of project delays. The EBIT
margin in 2007 stabilised towards the end of the year at a level of 6.1%.
It was not possible to reach the previous year’s outstanding performance
(15.9%) on the basis of the current project structure.

BDI reports that the total orders on hand at the end of the year amounted
to EUR 72.32 million (previous year: EUR 99.53 million), which guarantees
good utilisation of the existing capacities. With EUR 63.3 million, equity
is still on a very high level. The equity ratio was raised to 61.6% (2006:
56.6%). 16 of the total of 29 plants that have been sold have already been
handed over to the customer, while 13 are in the planning or construction
phase.

'The BioDiesel market will be experiencing a structural shake-out and has a
professionalisation process ahead of it,' says Wilhelm Hammer, CEO of BDI –
BioDiesel International AG. 'BDI has been on the market for years, becoming
a familiar name and developing a good reputation as a specialist for plant
construction in the renewable energy field thanks to the quality and
service it provides. It is more and more apparent that our
internationalisation strategy on the one hand and the clear focus on
quality, capability and extremely high standards on the other hand are
the right approach.'

BDI is equipped for the future with its research emphases on Biomass to
Liquid, BtL, and BioDiesel from algae.
'The core of our philosophy is to set standards in sustainable energy
generation with our own research and technology. In recognition of this, we
were awarded an environmental prize for our research into BioDiesel
production from algae at the end of 2007 too', says Wilhelm Hammer. 'We
have succeeded in intensifying our skills in the Biomass to Liquid (BtL)
development field as well by acquiring a majority interest in Lignosol and
are working intensively on the industrial implementation of a technology
for the obtainment of biofuel from biomass containing cellulose.'

It was again the case in 2007 that most of the revenues were generated by
BDI’s international business operations. The main markets that are being
covered continue to be in Asia, the former Eastern Bloc and South / North
America. This helps to keep the company independent of local developments,
like the downtrend and restructuring of the industry in Germany that can be
observed at the moment. Germany accounted for less than 5% of revenues in
2007.
In 2007, the sales and marketing capacities were expanded and co-operation
with local representatives was intensified, in order to improve market
coverage.

The commission to build a BioDiesel plant in Hong Kong is another milestone
for BDI: fats and oils, that are filtered out of the waste water from the
numerous restaurants and kitchens in the city with its millions of
inhabitants by grease traps, are the raw material for the production of
BioDiesel in this plant. The results are not only the solution to a
pressing waste disposal problem but also the possibility of manufacturing
high-quality BioDiesel from an inexpensive raw material and of putting it
to environmentally responsible use in the huge city – a light house project
for many major cities.

Outlook

In spite of somewhat poorer economic forecasts, the management of BDI is
expecting the business to develop positively in 2008. Thanks to the
advantages of great raw material flexibility and high product quality, it
can be assumed that BDI has a good basis for increasing profitability and
order intake in 2008, even if the BioDiesel market grows more slowly.

The interest held in VTU, which is based in Styria, from 1.1.2008 onwards
enables the company to respond even more flexibly to the specific
requirements of different industries in its plant construction operations
and to expand its range of services. VTU’s activities involve the technical
planning of high-tech processing plants in the pharmaceutical,
biotechnology, chemical, paper & pulp engineering, mineral oil & natural
gas fields. The services consist of all project management assignments,
including plant start-up.
