Another World Record is Set On a Mondo Track

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., April 2, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Mondo, a global leader in the sports flooring market, is pleased to announce that another world record has been set on one of its tracks.

At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain, Russia's Yelena Soboleva set a new women's world indoor record for the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:57.71. The competition took place on a Mondotrack surface at the Palau Velodromo Luis Puig, one of the world's best indoor athletics facilities.

Mondo's new Mondotrack is the same product that will be used as the official track for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The surface builds upon the success of Mondo's Super X Performance track, which has been the world's top track for more than 30 years. Globally recognized as the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest track available, Mondo's Super X Performance track has been used in the past eight Olympic Games.

The new Mondotrack surface was designed to provide optimal traction and a greater contact area than other tracks. It converts the amount of force generated by athletes' foot strikes to energy for maximum energy return, which helps athletes achieve faster times compared to running on other surfaces. Mondotrack also provides excellent athletic comfort and maximum safety.

"Many athletes have achieved faster times when running on Mondo tracks versus other surfaces," said Federico Stroppiana, president of Mondo North and South America. "Nearly 230 world records and countless national and personal bests have been set on Mondo tracks. In the new Mondotrack, our extensive research produced a cutting-edge product that takes the world-renowned performance of our track to the next level."
