Northrop Grumman Honors Supplier Base With Annual Awards; Recognizes Top Companies as Essential Team Members

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., April 17, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) today honored 65 Platinum Source Preferred Awardees and presented 2007 Supplier of the Year awards to 10 U.S. companies that have demonstrated distinction in meeting performance expectations, including outstanding quality, on-schedule delivery, focus on customer satisfaction and robust lean processes. The awards were presented at a supplier's luncheon in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

The honored companies provide Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector with products ranging from parts and components used in the manufacturing of advanced aircraft systems to services such as facilities maintenance. The 10 companies receiving Supplier of the Year awards represent all parts of the country, including Northern and Southern Calif., Fla., Miss., N.J., Ohio, and Utah.

Gary Ervin, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems, credited suppliers for not only exceeding performance expectations, but also for their value-added contributions. "These suppliers here today play a pivotal role in helping us achieve our sector's vision, which is to be the most trusted provider of systems and technologies that ensure the security and freedom of our nation and its allies. By fostering innovation, collaboration and trust in our suppliers, they have become essential team members who now share our commitment to customer satisfaction and to delivering superior program performance."

This year's awards featured 51 suppliers returning as Platinum Source Preferred suppliers and one company receiving a back-to-back Supplier of the Year award. Five of the 10 winning suppliers are small businesses, one is a woman-owned business, and one is a service-disabled veteran-owned and certified small disadvantaged business as recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Supplier of the Year program is an outgrowth of the company's strategic sourcing initiative, an effort started in 2003 to build stronger long-term relationships with suppliers. Under this initiative, every supplier is graded on parameters such as quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction and participation in affordability initiatives. To be considered for a Supplier of the Year award, a company must demonstrate consistently superior performance in delivering products and services.

Supplier of the Year awards were presented by the following commodity and strategic sourcing teams inside Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems: avionics, castings and forgings, composites and raw materials, equipment, indirect, machined parts, purchased parts, sheet metal, and standard parts and electrical.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a $32 billion global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
