SolarWorld Korea Ltd. – a Joint Venture of SolarWorld AG and the Korean
Solarpark Engineering Co. Ltd. – has secured the basic long-term supply of
its solar factory in South Korea with solar silicon wafers with effect from
the start of production in 2009. With the wafer manufacturer Nexolon Co.
Ltd. SolarWorld Korea has concluded a contract for the delivery of 420
Megawatt (MW) of wafers that will come into force in 2009 for seven years
and will thus secure the basic capacity utilization of module production.
At the same time the Korean SolarWorld company has placed the orders for
the production plants for module manufacture whose capacity will initially
amount to 120 MW and can be doubled to 240 MW at the same production site.
'The build-up of our first production facility in Asia is proceeding
according to plan', says Dipl.-Ing. Frank H. Asbeck, Chairman and CEO of
SolarWorld AG. 'From here we will supply solar modules to the rapidly
growing markets in Asia, especially Korea, starting in 2009'.
