PA RESOURCES: PA RESOURCES' PILOT WELL CONFIRMS A LARGER THAN EXPECTED OIL COLUMN AT THE DIDON FIELD
The oil- and gas company PA Resources has completed the drilling of a pilot hole as part of the development of new production wells on the Didon field in Tunisia. The pilot well confirmed excellent reservoir properties and proved a larger than expected vertical oil column.
The pilot hole was drilled by the jack-up rig Ensco 85 from the Didon platform, situated in the Gulf of Gabes, offshore Tunisia, to a reservoir location in the central parts of the Didon field. The pilot well was drilled to gather information on oil saturation and pressure across the reservoir section and serve as control for the drilling of the Didon-7 horizontal production drain.

The drilling of the pilot hole is now completed. The reservoir section came in higher than prognosis and the data gathered in the pilot hole has proven a larger than expected vertical oil column and confirmed the excellent reservoir quality expected in the area. The pilot well used the first section of the Didon-8 pilot well, which encountered a fault when it was drilled.

The pilot hole section will now be plugged before the horizontal production drain of the Didon-7 will be drilled. The horizontal drain is planned to have a length of 550 meters and will be placed along the top of the reservoir section. Once completed, the Didon-7 well is expected to increase the production significantly, well in line with the announced production forecast.

“I am very pleased with the results from the pilot hole of the Didon-7 well. It is still too early to make any comments on the reserves implications, however the results are encouraging for our continued efforts to enhance the oil recovery from Didon, and the well will contribute significantly to the total field production” says Ulrik Jansson, President and CEO of PA Resources AB.

Following the drilling and completion of the Didon-7 production well, PA Resources will commence the drilling of the second production well targeting the western part of the field.

PA Resources AB, with its Tunisian subsidiary PA Resources Tunisia Pty Ltd, is operator of the Didon field and has a working interest of 100 percent in the license.
