Munich/Grasbrunn, April 30, 2008; according to preliminary figures
available for the first quarter of fiscal 2008, Wirecard AG generated 40.6
million euros in sales revenues. This corresponds to an increase of 52.6
percent over the same quarter a year earlier (26.6 million euros). Earnings
before interest and taxes (EBIT), at 10.1 million euros, are up by 65.6
percent over the first quarter of 2007 (6.1 million euros). On a quarterly
comparison, the EBIT margin also saw a substantial improvement from 23 to
25 percent.
Being a full-service provider of electronic payment processing services,
Wirecard AG is benefiting from the ongoing growth of the European eCommerce
market and the trend toward companies increasingly wanting to consolidate
their payment flows from various sales channels via one system.
The Management Board has affirmed its forecast of increasing EBIT for 2008
as a whole by more than 45 percent.
All results are preliminary. The full report for the first quarter of 2008
will be published on 20 May 2008.
At the same time, the company wishes to announce that the Supervisory Board
adopted a resolution yesterday to renew each of the Management Board
service agreements of Mr. Rüdiger Trautmann and Mr. Burkhard Ley by two
years. The service agreement with Rüdiger Trautmann, Chief Sales and
Marketing Officer, will therefore continue until October 31, 2010. The
agreement with Chief Financial Officer Burkhard Ley has been until December
31, 2010.
