NCC builds new central entrance to Oskarshamn Nuclear Power Plant NCC has secured an assignment to renovate and extend the central entrance and goods reception of the Oskarshamn Nuclear Power Plant. Work is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010 and the order has a value of approximately SEK 150 million. NCC's order is a sub-project in the ongoing update of security around the facility to comply with new, more stringent directives from the Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate (SKI). All personnel, visitors and deliveries will undergo a security check to enter the buildings. “With the order in Oskarshamn, we are establishing our position as an experienced contractor to OKG, Oskarshamns Kärnkraftsgrupp,” says Jonas Kristiansson, Business Manager at NCC Construction Southern Region. “We have continuously had assignments in Simpevarp since the end of the 1960s and our personnel consequently have considerable expertise in the very special and demanding projects carried out at OKG's facilities.” Due to overheating in the Swedish market, a number of large deliveries will be procured abroad. For example, concrete framework and façade components will be purchased from Germany and Poland. Work will begin immediately and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2010. In total, 20-30 people are expected to be involved in the project. The order will be booked in the second quarter of 2008.
