Daley will oversee the division's three major banking units: Cash Management, Correspondent Banking, and Specialty Deposits, which serves title and escrow companies, 1031 Exchange accommodators, property management firms and other similar clients. He reports to City National Bank President Christopher Warmuth.

"Jim's background lends itself perfectly to the execution of a strategy that pulls together two of our key deposit units -- cash management and specialty deposits," Warmuth said. "We're counting on him to help take us to the next level in our deposit-gathering strategy, and to tap the ongoing growth opportunities we have in our successful correspondent banking business."

A 30-year California banking industry veteran, Daley most recently served as executive vice president and chief product officer at Mellon First Business Bank, where he was responsible for commercial real estate lending, international trade-related banking, treasury management sales and specialty deposits. He also chaired that bank's asset liability and deposit pricing committees.

Prior to joining Mellon First Business Bank in 2007, he was president of the corporate financial services group at Commercial Capital Bancorp in Irvine, Calif. From 1994 to 2005, he was corporate executive vice president of Comerica Bank's financial services division and executive vice president in charge of Imperial Bank's financial services group, respectively.

From 1991 to 1994, Daley was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Sunrise Bancorp in Roseville, Calif. Earlier in his career, he held regional vice president positions with Imperial Bank, first in Sacramento and then in San Francisco, Calif. He began his banking career in 1976 at Union Bank and, before that, was an investment advisor and real estate analyst at Coldwell Banker.

Prior to joining Coldwell Banker in 1974, he spent four years at the California State Department of Commerce, where he served as executive director of the Commission for Economic Development and deputy director for industry and trade.

Daley earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and a juris doctor from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento, Calif. He also attended the Pacific Coast School of Banking at the University of Washington.

He is a member of the State Bar of California. He also is a member of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach, Calif.
