AAA Texas Fuel Gauge Report: Prices Edge Up Slightly at the Pump

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - July 10, 2008) - Texans will still have to reach deep into their pockets when hitting the road this weekend.

The AAA Texas Fuel Gauge Report shows that the statewide average is $3.96 per gallon for regular gas. Nationally, the average price is $4.10.

Most Texas cities like Austin, El Paso, Ft. Worth and Galveston saw small increases for regular self-serve gasoline. Beaumont-Port Arthur however, bucked the trend with the price falling to $3.98 a gallon -- it is still the highest average price of the markets surveyed in Texas. Last week, Beaumont-Port Arthur pump prices shot up six cents, hitting a record high of $3.99.

This time last year, Texans were paying on average $1.08 less per gallon of gasoline.
