LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sport Chalet, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPCHA) (Nasdaq:SPCHB), one of the nation's premier specialty sporting goods stores, is proud to announce the grand opening of its new 41,000 sq. ft. store located in the Countryside Marketplace at 30054 Haun Road, Menifee, CA 92584. The Menifee store will be Sport Chalet's 55th location and 43rd store in the California market.
A grand opening celebration and sale is scheduled for Friday, November 21st through Sunday, November 23rd. On Friday at 9:00 a.m., Sport Chalet Chairman and CEO Craig Levra, Menifee Mayor Wallace Edgerton, Menifee Valley Chamber CEO Dorothy Wolons, Menifee City Council Member John Denver along with Sport Chalet's Menifee General Manager Kevin Larsen, will kick off the festivities with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. The Bell Mountain Middle School band will perform at the opening ceremony.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, the first 200 customers who are in line before the store opens and who sign up for Action Pass (our free customer rewards program), will receive a Sport Chalet gift card valued anywhere from $10 to $200. Customers may also enter to win $10,000 worth of prizes and gift cards from many of our well known brands including Callaway, Coleman, Diamondback, Electra, Garmin, Magellan, Proform and The North Face all weekend long.
Parking lot activities will take place throughout the weekend. On Saturday, November 22nd at 1 p.m. Craig Cruz, one of the local radio jocks on KATY-FM, will be live on site for a radio remote. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a free rock climbing wall and bungee jump all day long. The Gale Webb Extreme Sports & Air Show will be featured at noon and 3 p.m.
Free introductory SCUBA lessons will be available at our on-site SCUBA training pool on Saturday and Sunday.
