Senator Hagel, who served two terms representing Nebraska from 1997 to 2009, succeeds General James L. Jones, who stepped down to serve as National Security Advisor to President Barack Obama.

Dr. Mirtchev also is a member of the Strategic Advisors Group with The Atlantic Council and serves as a senior advisor to the council's president.
