Crenshaw Communications Tapped for Launch of Global 'be Berlin' Cultural Campaign

Creative Promotion to Spotlight German Capital as 'Place to Be' in 2009 and Mark 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 19, 2009) - Where will you be in 2009? Crenshaw Communications (www.crenshawcomm.com), in partnership with fischerAppelt Kommunikation (www.fischerappelt.de) in Germany, will implement a buzz-building promotion and bold media relations campaign to spotlight Berlin as a timely destination of choice. This year marks the historic 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The firms, who are partner agencies within the international PR network known as Public Relations Organisation International or PROI (www.proi.com), will pave the way to deliver the global campaign's "be Berlin" message in compelling ways. The assignment comes from Berlin Partner, the marketing and tourism organization for Germany's capital city. Berlin is in the upper echelon of Europe's business centers, ranked third behind London and Paris.

Kicking off in New York City in late March, the "be Berlin" campaign will highlight Berlin's offerings in three principal creative areas: fashion, art and film. The centerpiece of the campaign will be a traveling exhibit of brick-like modules to be signed first by New Yorkers, then other global residents, with messages of hope, unity and freedom. The exhibit will conclude in November in Berlin as part of planned ceremonies to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall.

"be Berlin" launch events in New York City will also feature a speaker series with prominent personalities and artists from Berlin and other special events designed to underscore the German capital city's modern contributions in creative industries.
