Next New Networks' Hub for Film Enthusiasts 'Indy Mogul' Expands Network
With Fresh, Revamped Shows and a New Web Platform, Indy Mogul Is Ready for the Red Carpet
| Source: Next New Networks
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 9, 2009) - Indy Mogul, the DIY filmmaking network dedicated to
film fans and aspiring directors, owned by leading online television
company Next New Networks,
today announced its expanded programming lineup with the addition of 'The
Reel Good Show' starring Webby Award winner Bobby Miller. Indy Mogul has also bolstered its
network of entertainment with a brand new platform that allows viewers to
easily navigate through Indy Mogul's shows to find their favorite episodes
and easily find information about hosts.
'The Reel Good Show' is a movie lover's comedy show featuring guest
interviews, comedy skits and loads of film chatter. Think "Late Night"
meets Sundance on the Web. Featured guests include the Obama Girl Amber
Ettinger, Sam Reich, director of CollegeHumor, Will Graham, director of The
Onion, Casey Margolis, actor in The Hangover and SuperBad, and many other
guests. New episodes of 'The Reel Good Show' will be posted every Thursday
at 11pm ET.
Since its debut in May 2007, Indy Mogul has fast become the go-to network
for casual movie-goers and movie buffs alike with programming that spans
everything from filmmaking tips and detailed instructions for creating your
own cheap special effects to movie reviews and conversations with the
filmmakers themselves. On average, Indy Mogul receives over 2.5 million
video views per month.
"One of the great advantages of programming made especially for the
Internet is that we can develop new content that references zeitgeist
subjects while they're still hot. During the Webby Awards, we quickly
recognized the impassioned audience support for Bobby Miller's 'Best Short
Films in the World.' Bobby has rapidly become a really beloved personality
on Indy Mogul and we've moved quickly to create a show that puts him at the
forefront," said Lance Podell, CEO of Next New Networks. "And by extending
the depth of the Indy Mogul lineup, we can continue to bring in great
talent and ideas and at the same time, stay committed to the Indy Mogul
fans who are the very reason the network is so successful."
'Backyard FX,' the show that pioneered the Indy Mogul network, will also be
re-energized with fresh content and new personalities. Kicking off the
show's third season, Erik Beck, 'Backyard FX' host and executive producer
of the Indy Mogul network, will introduce a new 'build' team that will
showcase bigger, more intense DIY effects than the show has ever featured
before. Viewers can check out how Beck and the team recreate flashy
effects for less every Monday, then watch the effects in action every
Tuesday. On the last Monday of every month, the Indy Mogul community takes
over, and Beck hands the camera to the audience for an episode of 'Your
FX.'
"Our relationship with our audience is the reason we are still around.
Interacting with them, and delivering the great content they expect is what
we are all about," said Beck. "Right now we have a very passionate and
devoted audience. I like to think that the viewers and the Indy Mogul crew
are all cut from the same cloth. We all love making and watching films.
Really we're all part of the same community."
Beck is also guest starring in a new show on Discovery Science Channel's
'Science of the Movies' where he shows host Nar Williams the tricks of the
trade in creating cinematic effects on the cheap. The show airs on Thursday
at 10pm (ET/PT). Beck will be teaching Williams techniques on knife
throwing, building a DIY dolly and the gunshot effect.
