Advocat Receives Seven National Quality Awards From the American Healthcare Association


BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Aug. 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advocat Inc. (Nasdaq:AVCA) today announced that seven of its long-term care facilities were recognized with 2009 National Quality Awards by the American Healthcare Association (AHCA).

The AHCA awards are based on the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award criteria and have three levels of awards for nursing homes. To be eligible to receive these national awards a facility must demonstrate at least a three-year history of excellence in quality care, staff and residents' satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

In 2009, one of our facilities, Hartford Health Care in Hartford, Alabama was recognized with the Step II award. In addition, six of our facilities received the Step I award:


 * Northside Health Care - Gadsden, Alabama
 * Conway Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center - Conway, Arkansas
 * Martin Health Care - Martin, Tennessee
 * Ballinger Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center - Ballinger, Texas
 * Oakmont Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center of Katy - Katy, Texas
 * Yorktown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center - Yorktown, Texas
