BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - September 2, 2009) -
IBM (
NYSE:
IBM) and
Aberdeen Group, a
Harte-Hanks Company (
NYSE:
HHS), today announced the availability of a new
online assessment tool designed specifically for organizations seeking to
improve their Green IT capabilities, performance and ROI. The tool, which
utilizes Aberdeen's primary research in Green IT and Sustainability, helps
companies of all sizes identify potential areas for improvement, including
server and data center virtualization, energy efficiency, end-user
collaboration, and recommends steps that companies should take to address
these capabilities and achieve ROI from their Green IT investments.
The tool automatically compares companies of a similar size. Large
companies are compared with other large companies while midsize firms are
compared with companies that have about the same number of employees.
The assessment helps companies determine their Green IT posture by
benchmarking against Best-in-Class organizations, as identified through
Aberdeen's PACE™ (Pressures, Actions, Capabilities & Enablers) research
model. By completing a 10-minute online survey, participants receive a
personalized summary of how they compare and can quickly identify the Green
IT strategies, capabilities, and technologies used by companies with
Best-in-Class performance. Participants can also receive an assessment of
over a dozen KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) associated with determining
the potential ROI that can be achieved from Green IT initiatives.
"This assessment tool will help companies quickly identify opportunities to
improve their operational efficiency and provide them with a competitive
advantage," said Rich Lechner, IBM vice president of energy and the
environment. "IBM and Aberdeen have developed a simple way to help
companies get started saving money, attracting the best talent and gaining
new customers by focusing on sustainability."
"Aberdeen is pleased to partner with IBM and enable organizations to make
timely, informed decisions on their Green IT strategies based on our
industry research," said Andrew Boyd, President of Aberdeen. "The
Assessment Tool Series, launched in 2004, has proven to be a very effective
format to share research in a very personalized way."
