Top Image Systems Rolls Out the 2009 Vietnam Population Census Project, Reviewing More Than 85 Million Citizens

A First in a Series of Population Census Projects That Will be Conducted Throughout 2010 Worldwide

TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 8, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Top Image Systems, Ltd. (Nasdaq:TISA) (TASE:TISA), the leading innovator of intelligent document recognition, today announced its eFLOW is being implemented to automate the extraction of data of the 2009 Vietnam Population Census project survey forms, reviewing more than 85 million citizens.

For the first time, the General Statistics Office (GSO) of Vietnam utilizes advanced document scanning to help classify and compile the results of its 2009 Census. The total information management solution also includes technology from FPT Information System Joint Stock Company (FPT IS JSC) and Digital Solutions Global (DSG), and connects KODAK i780 Scanners.

This solution extracts data from millions of completed survey forms and helps officials reduce the overall workload of the 2009 Census by 50 percent, delivering results in three months, versus the year-long process in the 1999 Census.

"Vietnam's 2009 Census represents a critical benchmark for assessing the country's overall socio-economic progress and charting future strategic development plans," said Dr. Ido Schechter, Chief Executive Officer of TIS. "The suite of selected technologies focuses on delivering highly accurate information to officials quickly and effectively."

"For TIS, executing the Vietnam's 2009 Census is part of series of achievements in this marketplace and a first in a series of population census projects that will be conducted throughout 2010 worldwide. Over the past few months, we have established partnerships with local representatives, mainly BPOs, with which we can present a superior solution to address the growing needs for AP automation," Dr. Schechter continues.

Comprised of more than 300,000 collectors, enumerators, government officials and supervisors, the census team will produce key indicators on progress in poverty, health and education. Results will be applied to four national databases on citizens, investment, land and judiciary.
