Third Annual Salary Survey Reveals High Employee Morale in the Northeast

Sponsored by Lab Manager Magazine and Kelly Scientific Resources

TROY, MI--(Marketwire - November 10, 2009) - According to findings from Lab Manager Magazine's third annual salary survey, employee morale has generally remained high in the Northeast despite the state of the current economy. This is the first year that Kelly Scientific Resources, a specialty service of Kelly Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: KELYA) (NASDAQ: KELYB), has sponsored the survey with Lab Manager Magazine.

Throughout the Northeast, survey respondents are overwhelmingly optimistic about both their current positions and their future careers, in spite of the challenging conditions of the region's economy. Ninety-seven percent of survey respondents are pleased with the type of work that they perform on a day-to-day basis while 80 percent of respondents feel valued by their management teams.

The survey also revealed that Northeast respondents typically display loyalty towards organizations. On average, employees have worked for their current employers for four years. In the meantime, more than 70 percent of respondents believe their current positions are secure.

According to the survey, only 50 percent of respondents believe that their career goals are being advanced in their current positions while 40 percent do not. Meanwhile, a majority of respondents (around 53 percent) feel that there are not advancement opportunities in their current positions.

Diane Barker, science product manager with Kelly Scientific Resources, feels the survey results are rather positive, despite the fact that many Northeast survey respondents are not satisfied with organizational advancement opportunities.

"The general trend of high employee morale throughout the Northeast shows that employees are still pleased with their positions and with the daily tasks of their careers despite the status of the national economy," said Barker. "While Northeast survey respondents seem satisfied with the security of their current positions, managers should consider improving the advancement opportunities of their organizations in order to maintain high employee morale throughout the Northeast."
