Patient Access Solutions Signs Exclusive Contract With Catrel AB Targeting the U.S. Home Health Care Market

Exclusive Contract to Sell Mobipen(TM) in the United States

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Jan. 21, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Patient Access Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets:PASO), an emerging provider of healthcare/financial processing technologies that provide the healthcare industry a graceful migration to Electronic Medical Records (EMR), today announced the signing of an exclusive contract with Catrel AB of Sweden where Patient Access Solutions will become the exclusive U.S. Mobipen™ partner targeting the $55 Billion U.S. home healthcare market.

Mobipen is a digital pen application, based on Anoto technology, for the home healthcare industry that takes handwritten documents and turns them into usable data that can be stored in computer systems. The technology allows for faster and more efficient documentation of patient care, improved document retention, better flow of information from the point of patient care into both electronic medical record and traditional healthcare oriented information technology environments.

"The combination of our D-PAS digital pen technology and the state of the art Mobipen system, both based on Anoto Technology, hold the potential to revolutionize how information is gathered and processed within the home healthcare environment. The traditional method of hand written forms, which must then later be entered into computerized systems, is prone to errors, inflexible and expensive," commented Bruce Weitzberg CEO of Patient Access Solutions, Inc.   "Through this partnership home healthcare workers and organizations will have access to a much more sophisticated and far less expensive information gathering and document management system. With this technology the home healthcare worker uses a light weight digital 'pen' that operates virtually identical to an ordinary ink-based pen. A sophisticated camera inside the pen records the pen strokes into the integrated memory, which can store up to 200 pages of information. This information is then easily downloaded into virtually any computer system, including industry standards-based EMR systems. Many home healthcare-related organizations that are currently utilizing this system have demonstrated considerable boosts to employee productivity, reduced error rates, improved documentation and significant overall cost savings. We believe such systems are the wave of the future and we are excited to be the exclusive distributor across the United States for this exciting technology."

The Mobipen™ application is currently being used by over 50 municipalities in Northern Europe to better document home healthcare visits. Mobipen care is integrated with the D-PAS digital pen and paper technology, based on Anoto Technology.
