Amely Signs to Fearless Records

Pop-Infused Rock Band Welcomed by California Label

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Amely, the Orlando, Florida quartet, who has been together for only a year, didn’t start out as a fully-formed band. That’s when fate intervened. Amely actually began as a studio project for lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Petie Pizarro, who branched out on his own after his prior band split up. He began writing songs on his own and elected to record an EP, later dubbed On My Own, at Vision Sound Studios in Jacksonville, Florida, with producer Daryl Phennager (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus). Impressively, Pizarro played all the instruments on the recording, including guitar, bass, piano and synths. He brought Nate Parsell in to record drums, since the pair had been in a band together previously. Upon completing the EP in June 2008, Pizarro and Parsell realized they had something worth further exploring. The pair recognized the depth, breadth and scope of the project’s potential, thanks to their knack for sweeping rock ‘n roll bluster mixed with pop melodicism, and set about forming a band around it. Bassist Patrick Ridgen was soon found and Guitarist Brandon Walden joined the fold a little further down the line after the band’s original guitarist exited. Amely was born.

Amely’s music is a bouncy blend of spirited rock spiked with a healthy dose of power pop influence. Pizarro likens the band to pop-rock dynamos like All American Rejects and Jimmy Eat World and sees his band as both timeless and ageless, with a mass appeal that defiantly refuses to adhere to any age range, gender or mindset restrictions. “We want to be a mature pop/rock band with a sound that kids can get into, but adults will also enjoy,” notes Pizarro.

Playing their first show in March 2009, the band quickly gained a reputation for their high energy live shows. The band went on to play three national tours, opened for All Time Low and played the Kevin Says Stage at the Florida dates of Vans Warped Tour 2009, rounding out the year with a spot on the Unsilent Night Festival with A Day to Remember, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Senses Fail and Breathe Carolina. Love for the band stretched beyond the U.S., to American Samoa in the South Pacific, where the band performed in front of 8,000 people for Blue Sky’s 10 Year Bash. In addition to their impressive tour resume, in less than a year the band had clocked up nearly a million plays on their MySpace page, and were named one of PureVolume’s Top 20 Unsigned bands of 2009.

Amely was snapped up by Fearless Records in January 2010, a mere nine months after forming. With a label in place and their road legs under them, Amely headed into the studio with Zack Odem and Kenneth Mount (All Time Low, Mayday Parade) to record their debut EP Hello World, set for release on May 25, 2010. Pizarro and his band mates are thrilled about the wide open future that lies in front of them, saying “We can't wait for people to hear the true direction of the band, and get our sound heard across the world.”

Amely. Write it down. Remember it. Because you are going to start hearing a lot more about this band in the next few months and beyond, as they continue to tour and win over fans with their charming brand of pop-infused rock.

Amely’s debut EP Hello World is set for release on May 25th, 2010.
