Magma Congratulates Winners of MUSIC China "Best Paper" Awards -- Macro Placement, Timing Closure and Simulation Among Popular Topics


SHANGHAI, China and SAN JOSE, Calif., March 28, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced the "Best Paper" winners for MUSIC – Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits – held in Shanghai March 23.

Conference attendees and the MUSIC Technical Program Committee selected the winners from a field of 10 papers presented by Magma users from top-tier technology companies, including Global UniChip, Micron Technology, NVIDIA, Texas Instruments and 30JAVEE Microelectronics. The top paper award went to Albred Mo of NVIDIA for "A Fast Macro Placement Methodology Based on the Logic Group." The second place award went to Tommy Liu of Texas instruments for his paper titled "Dealing with the Timing Closure Challenges on a 65-Nanometer (nm) Design." Third place went to Zhenhao Chen of Micron Technology for "A Simulation Strategy for NAND Flash Memory using FineSim™."

"MUSIC China provides an interactive platform for Chinese designers to exchange ideas on digital and analog/mixed-signal IC design technology," said Professor Ren Junyan, chairman of MUSIC China 2010 and vice director of the State Key Laboratory of ASIC and System at Fudan University. "The designs featured in this year's MUSIC conference papers ranged from 65 nm to 40 nm. Traditional digital IC design implementation techniques such as floorplanning, clock tree synthesis and congestion solving were covered, as were analog and mixed-signal system-on-chip (SoC) design and verification. These papers, along with Magma CEO Rajeev Madhavan's keynote, provided valuable information about the latest products, technology and related design applications for digital and analog/mixed-signal SoCs."
